There’s good depth and texture, but perhaps not quite the excitement of the best years. April was especially challenging for Sangiovese, which lowered yields considerably. 91P |
| Robert Parker | The 2020 Chianti Classico is Sangiovese with small parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This is a lovely wine with a level of punchiness, brightness and inner energy that is never easy to achieve, especially in a warm vintage such as this. That’s the Panzano magic, enhanced in this case by the estate’s non-interventionist winemaking philosophy. You’ll love to drink this entry-level wine no matter what your personal preference in Sangiovese style. 93P |
| James Suckling | A classic Chianti Classico with plums, strawberries and peaches on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins and a long, linear finish with brightness and focus. Juicy finish. Drinkable now, but even better in a year or two. 93P |
