Robert Parker | The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is a mid-weight expression of Sangiovese (called Sangioveto here, with 5% Canaiolo) with a polished and glossy approach to the palate. Similar to the 2016 Chianti Classico (released together with this wine), I taste a metallic note of rusty nail or iron that rises first from the bouquet. It blows off quickly enough to reveal the dark and succulent fruit that is associated with this warm and sunny vintage. Some 15,000 bottles were made. 91P |
James Suckling | A very plummy nose that also shows morello cherries, baking spices, Christmas pudding and blackberries. Full body, ripe and structured tannins, a really well done layer of acidity and a long, chewy finish. Needs a few years. Drink in 2021. 93P |
