Antonio Galloni | Dried figs, mint, licorice, crème brulée, herbs and candied orange peel soar from the glass in Fèlsina 2006 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico. Aromatically expressive and a bit richer than is often the case, the 2006 offers gorgeous depth, with plenty of acidity to back things up. 94P |
Robert Parker | The 2006 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico represens a blend of Trebbiano and Malvasia del Chianti that is aged in small oak barrels called caratelli for seven long years. This is a beautiful expression that is not too sweet or heavy. Indeed, it offers a noticeable level of elegance and sophistication that you don’t always find in this category of dessert wine from central Italy. The bouquet shows candied fruit, honey, brown sugar and grilled herb. Fèlsina produces 9,000 bottles of this wine, making it one of the biggest producers of Vin Santo in the Chianti Classico area. 94P |
